Though Dolly couldn’t make it this time, she’s not ruling out future royal encounters. "That would be great," she said with enthusiasm. This isn’t the first time Dolly’s been invited to meet royalty. Way back in 1977, she had the chance to meet Queen Elizabeth II backstage at the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. "I remember as a child being utterly fascinated by kings and queens, their flamboyant clothes, and their whole world of riches and crowns," Dolly recalled. "But when I finally met her, she was just so sweet and down-to-earth."

A Royal Encounter to Remember

When Dolly found out she’d be performing in front of Queen Elizabeth, she was over the moon. "When they told me on the plane that I’d be appearing in front of the queen, I just jumped up and down, telling everyone on the flight," she recalled with excitement. "It was one of the biggest thrills of my life." However, Dolly admitted she was nervous about following royal protocol. "I was scared stiff that I wouldn’t know how to curtsy or bend right, but she was so warm and sweet. Meeting the Queen of England was truly amazing."
