Mina Starsiak Hawk Opens New Store After Heartbreaking Closure: The Full Story

When Mina Starsiak Hawk, the beloved star of Good Bones, announced the closure of her Indianapolis-based Two Chicks District Co. retail store on September 29, fans were heartbroken. But don’t worry — this isn’t the end of the road for Mina or her business. Thanks to a generous and forward-thinking businessman from Noblesville, Indiana, Mina is set to reopen her store in a new location next year. Let me tell you the whole story.

A New Chapter Begins in Noblesville

At 39 years old, Mina is no stranger to taking risks and seizing opportunities. In an exclusive interview with People on December 14, she revealed that the idea for her second store came from an unexpected source: a businessman from Noblesville. This guy has a knack for spotting talent and potential, and he saw something special in Mina and her brand.

“He has businesses there, and he approached me with this question: ‘What can we do to get you to Noblesville?’” Mina shared during the interview. “He even asked if there was a show we could base out of the area. It was like he was throwing ideas at the wall, but every single one of them felt right.”

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

After some brainstorming, they both agreed that Noblesville would be the perfect spot to relaunch Two Chicks District Co. Mina described the move as a “light at the end of the tunnel” and expressed immense gratitude toward the businessman who helped her navigate this transition.

“You know, Good Bones was such a huge commercial for Indianapolis, and it was amazing,” Mina said. “But this guy’s thought process was that having Two Chicks and a Hammer in Noblesville could bring even more value to the community. That’s what makes it so exciting for me.”

Why Noblesville? Because It’s Packed With Potential

HGTV fans won’t be surprised if Mina starts renovating homes in Noblesville soon. The city is full of architectural gems waiting for her touch. “There are so many cool Queen Anne Victorians in Noblesville,” Mina gushed, talking about the city’s charm. “There’s one house I’ve had my eye on — it’s just a block off the square and looks like a total disaster. But that’s exactly why I love it! It’s a perfect candidate for a makeover.”

As a mom to two kids, Jack and Charlotte, with husband Steve Hawk, Mina finds inspiration in everything around her. She’s not just bringing her business to Noblesville; she’s bringing her passion for design, her family values, and her unique vision for turning old spaces into dream homes.

What Happened to the Original Store?

The original Two Chicks District Co. store in Bates-Hendricks, Indiana, closed due to an unforeseen staffing issue. Mina explained on her “Mina AF” podcast that she had to downsize her team, which ultimately led to the difficult decision to shut down the location. It wasn’t easy, but sometimes tough choices lead to even better opportunities.

A heartfelt message posted on the store’s official Facebook page summed up the bittersweet moment: “My team and I know many of you have made Two Chicks District Co. a destination on your travels, and we understand that this news may come as a disappointment. Please know how much I value every single person I got to meet and spend time hearing their stories while in the store. So many of you met my children and husband there, many more than once. It has been our second home, so saying goodbye, while gut-wrenching, is the decision I have to make for my family. Please understand and please give grace. What seems to be is often not what is.”

Exciting Plans for 2024

Next year is shaping up to be huge for Mina. Not only is she reopening Two Chicks District Co. in Noblesville, but she’s also starring in a Good Bones spinoff show on HGTV. The series will document the renovation of her new lake house and promises to be a must-watch for fans of her signature style. The two-part special, co-starring MJ Coyle, is set to air on HGTV in 2024.
